Rules of Conduct

1.  CAP has zero tolerance policy against sexual actions (including sexual molestation, touching, contact, exposure, suggestions, or any other incident of a sexually orientated nature), and physical abuse (actions including striking cadets, hazing, or assault).

2.  CAP has a zero tolerance policy against hazing. Hazing is defined as any conduct whereby someone causes another to suffer or be exposed to any activity that is cruel, abusive, humiliating, oppressive, demeaning, or harmful. This includes threats or implied threats to cadet or senior member.

3.  Any items brought to the HGA that is not on the approved list (see packing list) will be turned in at arrival gear inspection and returned to the individual at Sign-out. (It will be the attendee's responsibility to advise personnel upon checkout that items have been taken and need to be returned. The Academy is not responsible for sending these items back. If there are items to be returned, they will be send C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) The Academy will not absorb these charges.

4.  Cadets will be in bed at lights out. This means ready for sleep. Any cadet caught sneaking out after lights out will be immediately expelled from the HGA. NO EXCEPTIONS. Seniors will NOT be allowed to leave the HGA without the permission of the Academy Director only.

5.  Cadets will be under senior member or CAP-USAF Reservist supervision at all times.

6.  Phone Calls will be made home as soon as you arrive at the airport or Academy. First year students will call on Wednesday and Saturday nights and second and Third year students will call on Thursdays and Sunday night. NO EXCEPTIONS

7.  If male and female cadets are in the same room, the door must be opened all the way AT ALL TIMES. A senior member of the HGA must be there for supervision. There will be no public displays of affection (PDA) tolerated. A 6-inch rule will apply.

8.  Safety guidelines will be followed at all times. If conditions become unsafe at any time, any senior has the right to stop operations immediately until such time as safety officer declares the condition safe. There will be no running except during PT, no jumping from steps, and NO jumping on beds. EXCEPTIONS: only during emergency conditions.

9.  Cadets will only be transported in corporate vehicles or Air Force vehicles.

10.  Cadets driving privately owned vehicles (POVS) to the Academy will turn in their keys at sign-in (after unloading). Once keys are turned in, if a cadet has to return to the vehicle for any reason, a senior member must escort him/her. Cadets will NOT be allowed to drive at any time during the academy. This includes any vehicle what so ever.

11.  Flammables are strictly forbidden at the HGA.

12.  Controlled substances are strictly forbidden at all CAP activities. All participants caught using controlled substances will be expelled from the HGA and sent home.

13.  Rooms are to be kept clean, neat and free from food items at all times. It is the cadets, assigned to that room, responsibility to keep their area clean. Cadets will NOT invade other cadets area by sitting on bed, throwing stuff on someone elses bed, etc. ALL areas (including bathrooms and showers) will be kept Inspection Ready at all times. There will be College Representatives also inspecting the areas.

14.  Participation in ALL Academy activities is required. If you miss classes due to illness you must make up classes, or you will not graduate with the class.

15.  There will be no foul (cursing and swearing, etc.) language used, lying, threats made to any member. The USAF Academy Honor Code (Leadership 2000 and Beyond, Volume 1 Page 1-18) will be in force during the HGA by all members.

16.  All clothing and personal items will be marked with last name and flight. The HGA is NOT responsible for any lost or stolen items or any items left behind. If an item is borrowed from the HGA and it is lost, the cadet/senior member will be charged for that item.

17.  All persons attending the HGA will respect other members without regard to sex, creed, or religious beliefs. CAP Customs and Courtesies will be in effect AT ALL TIMES.

18.  All prescriptions brought to the HGA will be given to the SA complete with instructions on when and how they are to be administered. EXCEPTION: If you must use an inhaler it will be kept with you at all times. Medication of any kind must be in its original container. No one will give any other person or persons any medication of any kind. This includes ANY over the counter drugs, etc.

19.  Attendees are expected to exceed the standards at all times. Failure to meet the standards set forth in these Rules will result in a black mark against you. A total of 2 black marks will result in you being dismissed from the HGA with out credit and at your expense. For severe infractions, an Honor Board will be held. The Honor Board will be made up of Academy Director, Assistant Director, Senior Advisor, Reservists and Chaplain. (Academy Director has the right to include any other senior personnel.)

20.  When in civilian clothes, there will be no tight clothes; jeans and shorts must be worn at the waist not at the hips, no mid drift showing. Under garments must be worn at all times except when sleeping. Academy shorts will NOT be rolled up at waist or bottom of shorts; T-shirts must be tucked into shorts. Hats will be kept clean.
